Are you an Ego surfer? Or a Google stalker?

The British weekly New Scientist says in its latest edition that the Internet has given birth to a range of quirks, modern addictions and maladies.

In a feature in its Christmas edition, the journal analyses such new phenomenon as Ego surfing and You Tube Narcissism.

Following are some of the terms that the journal has coined.

Blog Streaking: Revealing secrets or personal information online, which for everybody's sake would be best kept private.

Crackberry:
The curse of the modern executive, not being able to stop checking your BlackBerry even at you grandmother's funeral.

Cyberchondria:
Too much reliance on online research. A headache and a particular rash at the same time? Extensive online research tells you it must be cancer.

Egosurfing: Searching Google for your own name. When "just checking" gets out of control.

Infornography: A condition that arises due to too much acquiring and sharing information has become an addiction for you.

You Tube narcissism:
Posting hours of videos of yourself on Youtube. Not even your closest family want to see hours of your holiday videos.

Google-stalking:
Snooping online on old friends, colleagues or first dates.

MySpace impersonation:
Many of us pretend to be someone we're not when we are online, but some will pretend to be a well-known figure.

Powerpointlessness:
One too many flashy slides.

Photolurking: Flicking through a photo album of someone you've never met.

Wikipediholism: Excessive devotion to a certain online collaborative encyclopedia.

Holiday Eating Tips

Got this in email, worth reading...

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet
table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see
carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum
balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt
scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch.
You
can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares
that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going
to
turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it.
Have
one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's the Holidays!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of
gravy.
Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your
mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or
whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports
car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control
your eating. The whole point of going to a Holiday party is to eat
other
people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New
Year's.
You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is
the
time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table
while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like
frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position
yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before
becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of
shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or
if
you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have
three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the
mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have
some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party
or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read
tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.

Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a
ride!"

First Day at SPA

Ramen is back! :)

She stayed in grandma's for the past 3 weeks when we were on the trip. Reyna and I picked her up on Firday after dinner, she did gain some weight as Helen told me, so I couldn't really recongnize her at the first sight... how funny! It's the 2nd day she's in the house, already made several damage, poo'd on carpet and in the CAR (of course I beated her for that...)

7. some dog toys (no soft toy….only plastic or rope)
8. Treat (U can use cooked pea or carrot)
9. Grooming tools, like comb, nail clipper, shampoo and towels
10. Photo Album
11. I will give you some puppy’s chow that we are using now. U can’t change diet immediately. U can switch it to other chow when she is slightly older.
12. Feel free to call me or Derek if U have any question. Get couples book about dog or Lhasa Apso will help as well.

"ROCOCO?

Domestic Violence

white rose bouquet which I made... :)

Flowers are a sign of love and beauty.
Life with love can be a field of grace
Open to those wise in joy and duty,
Wild with passion, civilized as lace.
Each blossom that is carried down the aisle
Reveals the life we've longed for all the while:
Sweet-scented sunlight, lush as an embrace.

Unexpected B-day Gift!

Here's my unexpected b-day gift! Yeeh!!! I first saw it hanging on Carrie Bradshaw (JSP)'s neck years ago and liked it, then I saw my sister in law had it hanging on hers...I can't recall that I told R I like it but apparently that he knew it... so here we go, now it's hanging on my neck now... and R said this will bring me the best luck! :)

Happy b-day, to me! :)

Finally one year older, Reyna has been kept reminding me few days ago already... :D My first b-day card is from XJ, very thoughtful and pretty sweet. Sometimes I just wonder that how many people still remember my b-day, or, how many people still remember me. I am not good at memorize people's bday, even the look, so I don't complain. One thing I know for sure, that's my Mom will never forget me b-day, not just because it's the day she gave me birth, IT IS also her b-day too!

Happy b-day, MOM!

Got new phone today!

Went to the store during lunch time and picked up this baby. Not too excited with it since it's out for a while already, but it's "free" techniqully, whatelse I can complain... :) Also bundled it with a bluetooth earpiece, remembered the joke Gigi made once to someone else's - "what a big earring!" OK, please don't say that in front of me, I will get really pissed... :D

Heart Screening 2006

Image hosting by TinyPic

Had my heart screening thing this morning.

Cholesterol lever is 127 (Ideal is <180)
Glucose ranges (blood sugar) is 91 (normal is 80-100)
Blood pressure is 98/58 (normal is < 120/80).

The lady from fitness center just said "nice and low" to me, I guess she doesn't have too much to say though I heard she gave a little "speech" to a guy ahead of me... :P Anyways, it's good to know that I am healthy, even with no excecises and eat junk foods (had pizza last night, how dare I AM?) LOL

The thing they used to get my blood was interesting, though I didn't dare to see it closely, it looked like a staple to me, just punched to my left index finger.

Garden in Kyoto by Chantecaille

OK, I confess, I shouldn't have ordered this one, but it's just so pretty and I just can't take my eyes away from it.:) Plus, I am always in love with Chantecaille's colors.

After reading the novel of "Memories of a Geisha", I could always picture the young Sayuri standing under the cherry blossoms tree with a little paper umbrella on her shoulder, watching the falling petals all over the sky. Kyoto really is a mystery place to me and I'd love to pay a visit if I go to Japan next time.

This is a testing entry from Blogger Widget! :) It only has Bold and Italic features right now. Hopefully they will add the link, image, etc soon. Anyhow, still very nice!

Blogger Widget!

I'd say I have never expected this, but still a nice thing to have and glad to know Google cares about us Mac users. :) Speaking of caring about Mac user, I think Yahoo! really should upgrade their Mac version messenger, I miss the Avatars a lot... :(

Download this Blogger widget here!

What are you faking about?

One of Mac fan plus designer made this fake ipod out, it's fun to see how he/she did it and the most funny part is the simplified Chinese character he got from the translation widget. This comes to his mind probably becasue he knows iPods are assembled in China now... OK, you are way too "smart", but please practice your Chinese handwriting first... (btw, someone has pointed out that this person is using Dutch safari browser...)

Who's your idol?

I think Ace Young is the cutest one among the final 12 male contestants. His voice isn't bad, but there're few others sure better than him. Now we will see if the look really matters and how far he can go in the following runs. For girls, I like katharine McPhee so far, she's the one who kissed all the judges in the hollywood run, cute, huh? She has pretty face, good voice, somehow I think she lacks of passion, energy, just not unique enough to be an idol.

La Scala Bathtub with TV

Qouted from engadget "Complete with a floating remote control, the tub is big enough for you and your honey, and offers 10 adjustable water jets to make you feel good all over while you’re getting your TV on." Who's gonna getting these things? Celebrities?

I think this tub has the potential to be an all purpose place to stay all day long. By adding a mini bar, combining with a fridge, microwave, a floating bluetooth keyboard, a mouse, assuming the TV has online features. A build-in toilet too, of course it needs to be well designed, I can see a little challenge here. What else am I missing?

SE W950 - coming soon!

I changed my mind again this morning after reading XJ's email, I pinged him couple days ago on checking if he can get decent price on W900 since he's with SE... :P he replied me back with the news of W950 is coming within 2-3 month. The W900 is too bulky comparing to this one, plus it's Symbian based, what does that mean? It's indeed a smart phone, yeah!!! :) I hope I could feel smart while holding it, just like the feeling while I am drinking the "Smart Water"....

Post V-Day Thoughts

This past V-day was the only time I didn't get the roses, though R showed me the prove that the 1-800flowers did screw him up and they tried to deliever it again on 15th (of course I asked him to cancel it, so embarrassing.). That makes me wonder wether or not it's a bad sign, after 7-8 years consecutively almost error-free, why this time? (don't kill me, hon)... I have to admit that the Proflowers did screw him once few years ago, they sent it on 13th, people in office were teasing me on - oh, is that for the v-day eve? But having flowers are surely better than having nothing, really?

Do I really care about the flowers or just the fact the flowers represent his love and care which I care more about? If that's the case, why I need the flowers to prove it? And if that's the case for him, why he needs to keep sending it every year to prove it?

I asked Calvin the other day that what he would get for his wife for v-day. He said "Nothing" right the way, his theory was it's really a marketing strategy for businesses so they come out such holidays, why we fool ourselves to buy stuff just for the sake of it. Oh yeah, I really hope your wife thinks the same way, and if that's true (and I believe it), what a lucky man he IS!

Apparently, it's only for sale in Asia Pac, and I did check on ebay and it's around $600, OK, let's forget it for now, I will wait once it's FREE for T-mo or Cingular... and are we talking about a year or two later? Here's a full shot of W900 in black, I'd go with the white one.

Here's another SE one, and a little bit iPod looking... well I have to say that it looks like Zen too (that little ugly basXXX)... I just think they should be able to come up with a new design, or at least something more interesting. A square phone with square buttons?! Its not all that bad, but can't you be more creative? :)

What's my next phone?

Still considering myself a Sony Ericsson phone fan, but am not very happy with what they have for last couple years. So, what my next phone will be? An another SE? I am really hoping there will be some kinda of iPhones, well, not Moto's iTunes phone, tho... Here's the Sony Ericsson's Wilma / k800i, not very impressive, still...
